Viola Davis is Amanda Waller

Reports from Latino Review tell that Viola Davis (How to Get Away with Murder) will be playing Amanda Waller next Will Smith, Margot Robbie, Tom Hardy, Cara Delevingne, and Jared Leto in the Suicide Squad movie.

If you haven’t seen How to Get Away with Murder it’s definitely a must. Viola Davis performance is good and seems like she will give Amanda Waller justice.

Arrow – The Climb Review (spoilers)

Oliver Queen is dead.

We know this not be true right? The show is revolves around him and it’s the mid season finale. This episode was great it goes back to the comic book feel. A lot happens in here but it is structured very well. This time there is three stories happening like all the others one is the current time which the Arrow, and the flash backs of Oliver’s time missing after the island. The third one and specific to this episode we see Oliver climbing a mountain. If you saw last weeks promos you know where he’s headed. In this episode we see the main characters appear that have anything to do with Sara, Laurel, her parents, Oliver, Felicity, Thea, Nyssa, well just all of them, which that sums all the characters up. Ha.

In this episode we finally find out who killed Sara. The League of Assassins give Oliver 48 hours to find and deliver the killer to Ras’ Al Ghul. So the group begins to work. Felicity runs the DNA samples through the system to find out who was behind the arrows that killed Sara. (Why wasn’t this done before? and it shouldn’t of taken that long how convenient, hmmmm). It turns out there was Queen DNA. In the database Oliver Queens DNA is in the system it matches his. Oliver knows and jumps to conclusion that Malcolm Merlyn had something to do with it. The only way he can get Merlyn to come out and face him is to threaten Thea his own sister as the Arrow. Which is really a good move kind of messed up using his own sister to get to Merlyn. It turns out that this does work Meryln catches up to Oliver, and pretty much spills the beans that he was behind Sara’s death, and the mind control drug is revealed that’s where the parallel for the flash back has in common.Oliver decided to go with Merlyn’s plan to dual Ras’ Al Ghul and save his family once again, and in the running will also save Merlyn, and from the truth coming about Thea being under control of Merlyn and having her kill Sara. It was somewhat disappointing that Thea doesn’t remember killing Sara it could of been the birth of Emiko (comic history: Emiko is the daughter of Mr. Queen’s, Oliver’s dad, that he had with Shadow). Unless there is another sister of Olivers out there in this universe.

The best part of the episode was the dual against Ras’ the fight was not disappointing at all. We all know Ras’ reputation and Oliver not the Arrow gives him a run for his money. Ras’ states that no one has challenged him in 60 something years. Which can be interpreted that he lost a previous duel and that the Lazarus Pits do exist in this universe. Which brings me to the next point. Oliver is defeated and Ras’ drives a the sword through him, then kicks him of the ledge of the mountain. Someone has to put him in the pits for him to bring him back. Maybe it will be Maseo? Clearly speculation though, I hope its different, but good. We don’t know if he is put into the pit, and if he comes out different person.

During the flash back another thing is revealed Yamashiro kidnapping Tatsu, maybe? Yes? Hopefully next time we see her she will be Kitana and somehow get involved in a bigger way.

Another interesting thing is that we get another glimpse at Palmer’s A.T.O.M. suit, and he shows Felicity and straight up asks her to help him pretty much be a super hero, cutting to the chase.

Overall this episode was AWESOME a 9.0. It had everything we wanted it and honestly I wasn’t expecting it so soon in the season. We find out who killed Sara. Oliver would do anything for his family. The duel between Ras’ and Oliver. We learn were Maseo ends up. And Plamer’s intentions in Starling City.

Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. ‘What they Become’ Thoughts/Review

Well just like it to be S.H.I.E.L.D. they answer our questions, but leave us hanging with another question. Why do you do this to us Marvel? We’ll unlike the other episodes of S.H.I.E.L.D. this one is pretty awesome. I’m just going to jump to it, INHUMANS, right? Its perfect set up. The Kree were involved since the first season when Coulson was trying to figure out how he came back from death. He finds some answers, but that the last episode was finally confirmed that it was the Kree. (Do any of the Avengers know Coulson is alive?)

Inhumans have not officially been named or mentioned on the show, but they don’t have to. History in the comic books involving the Inhumans dictate the Kree are responsible for the creation of the Inhumans by genetically enhancing human beings. The reveal for the Inhumans seems to be early to me. Since there will be an Inhumans movie set for late 2018. Not sure what Marvel has up their sleeves with this, but it sure it is exiting.

Spoilers ahead***

We also learn about Skye’s past, and how she was “abandon”, and her real name Daisy Johnson aka Quake. Seems her father, Calvin Zabo, aka Mr. Hyde, left her with people while he went to look for his kidnapped wife. This has similar feels on how Peter Parker was left with with his uncle and aunt while parents needed to leave. And his parents did work for S.H.I.E.L.D., but that story gets skewed as its retold several times. Anyway, there is the big moment where Skye meets her father and that pretty much goes as expected. He does seem to know what’s happening with the underground city and Obelisk, but like always he just speaks what he knows and does not explain, you know for the stories sake. It seems that Skye gets her Inhuman abilities from her mothers side, but that leaves Cal, where did he get his more comic book history reveals that he develops the ‘Hyde Formula’ (obvious Dr. Jekyl and Mr Hyde) that seems he must have in him already. We never see him actually what he can do, possibly leaving the Hyde transformation for later on in the season. If they do show his transformation I don’t think it will disappoint did you see the pretty cool graphics and in the opening sequence and in the transformation of Skye and Raina pretty amazing for Television.

Oh, here is what Quake looks like

QUake

At the end of the episode the transformation of Skye and Raina, to me, seems like a nod to Medusa since they turn into stone and Medusa is also an Inhuman and one of Black Bolts wives.

Oh Trip, It seems that Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. isn’t being left behind on killing people of in the mid season finales. Trip goes way to soon, Why!? Odin why do let this happen!?

The final teaser scene is awesome too, it’s like one of those credit end scenes from the Marvel scenes I love it. It’s this guy with no eyes. Many have said it’s Reader another Inhuman that whatever he reads turns into reality. Comic book history lesson: the rest of the Inhumans thought the reader’s powers were to powerful so they took out his eyes to prevent him form reading, but he still does the Braille. Reader is tasked in bringing other Inhumans as a mercenary for Ennilux Corporation. Since Hydra seems to be done in the show it could be a possibility that the Ennilux Corporation could take its place. (comicbook.com)

This episode of S.H.I.E.L.D. was definitely Awesome a 9.5. So much is revealed. Waiting for episodes like this is risky though leaving all the cool stuff for the mid season finale. I know it’s a build up, but there are times where I want to stop watching. Only because I speculate on what’s coming next I continue to watch.

The Speculation Ring:

It was announced that Marvel Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will somehow be involved in Avengers: Age of Ultron. This makes sense know with the reveal that Skye is Quake. Comic Book History: Quake at one point becomes an Avenger, for her to help out with her new found powers would be asking a little much for the flick, but it makes sense now. My other point that there are still some infinity gems left out there, right? What if one of these Obelisk’s is one of the gems, eh? Think about it.

SELECT REVIEWS: SECRET SIX #1 & ANGELA ASGARD’S ASSASIN #1

This Week in Select Reviews, I tackle on two of the newest editions for DC Comics and Marvel.

Secret Six

SECRET SIX #1

Writer: Gail Simone

Art: Ken Lashley

This title has been getting a lot of hype of the past few weeks. It’s a series that’s new to the New 52, and the last series of this issue were in 2011. Back in the day this group consisted of super villains that weren’t so much notable. It seems much hasn’t changed, in this new issue we have Catman, Porcelain, Ventriloquist, Bigshot, Strix, and Black Alice. Right of the bat I was intrigued by the beginning of the story wanting to know why these people wanted to take Catman in. It made me really care about this character as well as the other ones later on introduced. The characters that make this all  more interesting are Strix, Black Alice and Ventriloquist. The ending is a really nice hook for readers.

The thing I did find a little awkward was the introductions of each character. It was like taking roll call in a class room. What lead to these introductions was also awkward. The fate of their lives is hanging by answering a question, but they decide to talk rather than be worried about the question or getting out.

Overall I give this issue a B-. It’s a solid start for this brand new DC issue. Looking forward for the next issue.

Angela_Asgards_Assasin_HansANGELA ASGARD’S ASSASSIN #1

Writer: Kieron Gillen

Art: Phil Jimenez

I’ve been really excited about this title ever since Angela was introduced into the Marvel Universe. This issue follows the past events from Original Sin. Thor and Loki find out they have a sister that was taken years ago during a war between the Asgardians and the Angels. The story wasn’t quite what I expected, Angela is on the run with a baby, that’s an importance to a certain group of people. Angela shows off her angelic fighting skills against a group of barbarians following her. We are also introduced to a new character, a friend of Angela’s, Sera. She is the one to explain Angela’s story and how the Angels make deals and don’t give handouts. Like any other title this issue leaves you with a cliff hanger and we see familiar friends also looking for our heroine.

Overall I give this issue C+. The story did drag a little, but had a big pay off in the end. Great fight scenes with Angela.

Constantine – Blessed Are the Damned Review

Constantine is a show that is appealing to many, it’s the supernatural aspect to it, demons, angels, etc. It’s fascinating seeing a story to what only we talk about. Even though it’s fake like a myth or legend, but it had to originate somewhere. Something had had to happen before people started spreading stories of mythical creatures. It’s just that stories began to exaggerate with in time stories that were passed on from generation to generation began to have extra information that have been skewed. That’s what fascinating the thing we don’t understand or the thing we don’t expect. The unexplainable.

This episode is straight Constantine’s alley. A supernatural episode dealing with a preacher that gets the ability to heal people in his congregation, but like everything else it comes with consequence. Zed has the ability to see what person has experienced with just a simple touch. I don’t want to give away to much this episode is worth the watch. Zed sees what happened to the preacher, and begins to understand that there is more than just demons and visions. The idea they played with possibly coming back from death by stopping the angel that is tasked in taking you to heaven s just sounds awesome. With a few twists in the episode just makes it a better story. We finally have a hint of Zed’s past nothing is revealed about it but it looks like we will find out about it in the next episode. what does the nude model want with her? hmm?

What’s kind of irritating is that they started switching characters between Zed and Chas. They give the crappiest excuses why they aren’t there ‘ she’s at a art class’ ‘he’s with his daughter’ come on. I think it would feel a little more natural if they didn’t mention their absents. It’s better to have them all together like in previous episodes.

Zed is exposed to the truth about Angels, that they do exist. She is only seeing the fallen angel but cannot see Constantine’s angelic friend Manny, later Zed is quickly taken over by Manny. We also finally see Manny finally take action, as before he doesn’t want interfere and affect an outcome that is not good. Manny is placed in an awkward position doesthe right thing by finally getting involved.

As we all heard that Constantine is just running its full 13 episodes NBC didn’t order any new episodes. This doesn’t mean the show is cancelled. It just seems they are waiting to see if the rating go up. So if you like the show keep watching. The show has had a slow start. If they do come back for a second season they need to be a little more ambitious with it, and start involving othe DC characters to boost the hype up of the show. Possible characters that could make an appearance would be Zatara with a young Zatanna, Pandora, Swamp Thing, Frankenstein, Deadman, etc. The list goes on. They’ve already shown Dr. Fate’s helmet and the Pandora’s skull, they should show up like now.

This episode is Great, it’s a 8.0. Constantine offered a better story. Manny finally gets involved. Fallen angel story is awesome. Story dragged a little too much.

Benedict Cumberbatch set to be Dr. Strange

On the Marvel website they just announced that Benedict Cumberbatch will be playing Dr. Strange in the films. ‘Dr. Strange’ is set to be written by Jon Spaihts (Prometheus, Darkest Hour), and directed by Scott Derrickson (Sinister, Exorcism of Emily Rose) With a creative director and suspenseful/horror movies under his belt, there’s no doubt what Derrickson can bring to a character such as Dr. Strange. Cumberbatch being the good diverse and intense actor can truly bring out and show audiences what Dr. Strange is all about.

Dr. Strange hits theaters in November 4, 2016.

Kristen Ritter as Jessica Jones

Marvel hasn’t announced it, but Deadline is reporting that Kristen Ritter will be playing Jessica Jones in drama series for Netflix. The role was between Teresa Palmer and Kristen Ritter as they both read lines with believed to be Luke Cage, Mike Culter. Kristen is know for her role in Breaking Bad Jesse Pinkman’s girlfriend. She also started in her own show Don’t Trust the B*** in Apartment 23.

Jessica Jones story goes that she stopped being a super hero after several attempts to be one. She then opened a private detective agency. Marvel has announced there would be no more origin stories, hopefully that goes for the four Netflix series being developed. Jessica Jones is set for a 13 episode series along side three other series: Luke Cage, Daredevil, and Iron Fist. It is also reported that these four characters will be in team up series The Defenders also to be released through Netflix.

The Flash and Arrow Mid-Season Finales

During this weeks Arrow they ran two very exciting promos The Flash Mid Season Finale and the Arrow Mid Season Finale. First of all I don’t like these mid-season finales, but they happen and these two are happening. These next two episodes look great though. They are both what we’ve been waiting for Flash finally encounters Reverse Flash, and Arrow finally meets Ras’ Al Ghul. Promos and pictures below.

The Flash, Tuesday

On set with Flash and Reverse Flash

Arrow, Wednesday

Arrow – The Brave and the Bold Review

The second part of Arrow and The Flash crossover. This is not round 2 of the Flash vs Arrow. This episode was more of a team up, and I use the term “team up” loosely. The Flash did no fighting what so ever; the Flash was expected to fight especially with a super villain that’s HIS villain in the comics, Captain Boomerang (Sigh).

Regardless I still enjoyed this episode. It still followed the Arrow writing its been in the past seasons. Well this starts with Boomerang infiltrating A.R.G.U.S. He was after Lyla Michaels, they had a history regarding Task Force X. It seemed that they wanted him in the Suicide Squad, but kinda failed to keep in there, they’ve been trying to find him since. Diggel grows uneasy about that someone is trying to kill his baby mama. Which becomes an ongoing joke through out the episode and grows weak, but it does lead to Diggy proposing to his ex-wife again. The fight scene with Boomerang, Arrow, and Arsenal was great. This fight actually took m into the pages of a comic book, minus the dialogue, but perfect transition from pages to the small screen. Just like Flash’s episode it did have humor in it. I found it comical when Flash was doing Arrows workout in extra, extra speed. Ha.

One thing I would like to point out in this episode is that they do acknowledge the differences in maturity between the Arrow group and Flash group. The shows know at what level they each are in. Just because Flash as super powers they don’t exaggerate his powers. When arrow was still in its infancy they didn’t throw him in with all the gizmos and gadgets he has now. The Flash learns from Arrow, and in this episode Arrow learns from the Flash. After he shows what kind of tactics he uses in his city. They both have a fallout with one another Oliver tries to explain how his city works compared to Central City. This is more of a psychological fight than what we saw in Flash’s episode last night, well different, a physical fight. This helps Oliver realize that he is still human on spearing Boomerangs life. In this weeks flash backs it is discovered how Oliver’s “interrigation” tactics came from, Amanda Waller.

I was disappointed that Flash wasin’t in a fight against Boomerang only saved Arrow from two boomerangs. It felt like the writers just threw the Flash in this episode and hoped it would create something awesome. They Not that they didn’t use the Flash in the conflict between Arrow and Flash, but they missed a huge opportunity in creating a big team-up. Once they both caught aught up with Boomerang it was really obvious how they would use the Flash. Boomerang placed five bombs around the city, but since Flash is fast they needed to put him in a situation where he wouldn’t just be able to take them out to sea like he did in the episode where Plastique blew up. They couldn’t just do the same thing so all five bombs would go off at the same time.

I think this episode was OK a 7.5. Fight was great. Flash and team appearance. Could find better use for Flash in the episode.
